The preschool is organized around helping the children to grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially.  The daily schedule is planned, but flexible.  A typical session consists of the following:

EARLY LEARNING CONTENT AND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS

Throughout their day, children are exposed to the Early Learning Content and Development Standards set forth by the Ohio Department of Education.  Phonological awareness, letter awareness, phonics and early math skills are intertwined with daily activities.

ARRIVAL

Children arrive and are individually greeted by their teachers.  Sign-in routines help children learn to recognize and write their names.

FREE CHOICE

Indoor classroom centers are available to the children.  The children have opportunities to explore the many art activities, sensory materials, math and literacy materials.  Imaginations soar in our dramatic play and shelf toy areas.  Essential math skills are built on with a variety of blocks and geometric shapes.

CIRCLE TIME

Children gather together as a group and enjoy sharing books, letter of the week activities, music/movement activities, finger plays, science experiments, and discussions.

OUTDOOR TIME

Children have an opportunity to explore our fenced playground area.  The playground includes swings, climbing equipment, a sandbox, a grassy area for imaginative play, and sidewalks for tricycles and cars.

EXERCISE TIME

Outdoor Play:  Children have the opportunity to explore our outdoor fenced play yard with climbing equipment and a covered sandbox.  There is a grassy area for imaginative play and sidewalks for wheeled toys.

Indoor Play:  On rainy or cold days, everyone still has an opportunity to exercise in our indoor play area.  The play area includes climbing equipment, large construction blocks, balance beams, and a basketball hoop.

SNACK TIME

Children and teachers sit together at tables and share conversation.  This is also an opportunity to practice table manners and passing and pouring skills.  Healthy snacks are provided by parents.  A snack calendar is provided by the teachers and healthy snacks are encouraged.

QUIET TIME

Children engage with books, puzzles, and/or music as the preschool day comes to a close and parents arrive.
